The first meeting of STI5 took place at Kieran's flat.
Chloe, Kieran and myself all attended.
In this meeting we decided; that the theme of are radio program would be sexually transmitted diseases, that we would use vox pops to portray public knowledge on the subject, that there would be a casual humorous feel to the program, that we would seek out a expert in the field of sexual transmitted diseases and interview them on the subject and that Kieran and Chloe would be the presenters of the program and I would over see most of the editing. We chose to have Kieran and Chloe present because we felt it would be better to have a spokesperson from both genders.

Soundscape
Soundscape Proposal
I have decided to record my soundscape at bath spa train station at 5.30pm, rush hour. The recording will last approximately 4 minutes.
First off I will record the ticket room i.e. people the sound of buying tickets and rushing for their trains. Then, for the second stage of my project, I will move up to the platform and record trains arriving and departing, people walking up and down the platform and the announcements being made. Then I will board a train for the third and final stage of the project and record the journey to Old Field Park.
The reason I have chosen to record in a train station is because I think it will be the ideal place to capture a live and real atmosphere what with all the movement and stress that surrounds public transport.

Montage
This is a photo montage I have made using audio from the Radiohead song 'All I Need' and photos taken by myself on the 5th of November (bonfire night).
I originally planned to use still images and video footage, but due to a hardware malfunction I was forced to use on still images. To work around this problem I attempted to give the montage as much motion as I could by syncing the images together in such a way that it looked as if they were moving and connected. I also cut the shots to the drum beat and, towards the end of the montage, the bass line.
For this montage I took inspiration from the Passion Pit video 'The Reeling'.

Research Into Vox pops
Vox Pops or Vox populi (Latin for voice of the people) is a series of short interviews with random members of the public. Vox pop is filmed on busy street with an interview approaching members of the public and asking them all the same question, this is then strung together while editing with each interviewee’s answer lasting around five to ten seconds.
Filming a vox pops can lead to unpredictable answer and this is edited down in post production to give a balanced and well represented view of public opinion towards any given subject.
Typical subjects for a vox pop include; political debates, financial debates, and sport, but really can be done about anything that the general public feel interested enough to have an opinion on. Hear is an example of a vox pop off You tube:

Do I Really Need.....
Do i really need money? This is the topic i have settled on for my program idea. I was torn between do I really need to read and do I really need money but I have decided to settle on the money idea due to it being more of an engaging topic and it is also a subject that for many students it is easier to relate with. To develop my idea i have researched on the web at such sites as ; http://money.howstuffworks.com/personal-finance/budgeting/how-much-money-to-live.htm
I also Found this video really interesting and inspiring:
